Fyrebol Rusting Process

Process & Surface Compatibility

Our process combines precision craftsmanship with controlled natural finishing. The rusting process is intentionally developed to create a rich, protective patina while maintaining structural integrity.

Protective Layer & Corrosion Resistance

Through natural exposure to weather, the material develops a protective rust layer that acts as a barrier, preventing it from rusting through. Avoiding constant exposure to standing water helps preserve this protective layer.

Environmental Impact on Rust

The speed and appearance of the rust patina are influenced by the fire pit’s location, climate, and weather exposure. Variations in humidity, rainfall, and temperature naturally affect how the surface evolves over time.

Accelerating the Rusting Process

Rust formation can be accelerated by applying saltwater using a plant sprayer. A natural mixture of vinegar and water may also be used to encourage quicker development of the rust patina on the surface.

Maintenance, Durability & Recyclability

The material is highly durable, used in industries such as shipbuilding and bridge construction, and is fully recyclable since it contains no chemical protective coatings.
